Worst Night Of No Sleep In A While

UGH - So my monsters sweet darlings decided that neither of them were going to sleep last night. Awesome. Aiden threw the most ungodly tantrum from 9:00 - 12:00.... NOT KIDDING. It all started way before bedtime though. We went out for lunch and when we got there he said he would have the grilled cheese sandwich. Colored like a pro, sat nicely while brother napped making sure not to wake him, and sipped a little bit of lemonade. Well, when lunch was served he wanted nothing to do with eating. OK - Not like this hasn't happened before, because if I have learned one thing from parenting a toddler is he will eat on his own time....Not Mom's or Dad's. As Phil and I, and even Graham (upon waking) ate a nice lunch out at a new restaurant our 2 1/2 year old was expiring - And not slowly either, expiring like milk in the hot sun. So we left, because I refuse to let my child act like a jerk while other are trying to enjoy a meal out.

When we got home he continued resisting lunch and screamed as we tried reading before nap time. He did end up sleeping for a while, but then did the same thing for dinner - You would think this kid would be starved, he had a regular sized breakfast but didn't eat anything else for most of the day minus a few crackers. So when the tantrum at 9 pm started he went into his room. GOOD GRIEF. So he screamed and cried and kicked in his bed for a while - Phil and I both went in at separate times to calm him down, to no avail. So around 11 daddy makes a peanut butter sandwich and poured a little milk for Mr. Disagreeable. Daddy caved and let him watch some Thomas the Tank Engine...Yes - at 11 pm. So he finally eats, got to watch some of his favorite show and then proceeds to fight going to bed. Again. He eventually tired and feel asleep at midnight - Just in time for Graham (who went to bed like an angel 4 hours prior) to show up for his shift.

Phil and I got in bed after Aiden's ordeal - the nanosecond it took for my head to hit the pillow I was sleeping like a rock. Graham woke up at 2, then again at 3. I rocked him for 45 minutes and put him back down - was awake 30 minutes later. What is with these kids?! (Both are teething - how crappy do these teeth have it though, huh? Always getting blamed for the unfavorable actions of kids everywhere.) It just goes to show you that parenting is not for sissies. So then he crapped his pants around 5:30am - what is better than that? So around 6 he went back to sleep - Just in time for Aiden to wake up at 8:00. On the plus side Graham did sleep until 10:30 - and was on his regular schedule the rest of today.

Coolest night ever. NOT.

Going Old School

Today was the day that I became completely fed up with this whole "funky stomach skin weirdness" from having kids. Yes, I am still harboring some extra fat from pregnancy... Which totally sucks considering I had G 11 months ago. And the loose skin....UGH! HATE IT. Time to tighten up - the ab area, you pervert. I have lost all the weight I gained with Graham PLUS 10 pounds, but have realized this part is going to be the thorn in my side.

I work out at least 3 times a week, however my ab work has been falling by the way side. NO MORE! Today I went old school and busted out some 8 minute abs. Wow. That guy is a total cheese-dick (excuse the language, but the other words I want to use are much worse) And who knows, maybe my perceptions of him will change once this unidealistic spare tire is gone. Until then, the original impression stays.

So mark your calenders for 60 days from now - Because this is the final stretch! And by stretch I am not referring to the stretch marks - Not even sure what I can do for those wicked bastards.

How Does A Girl Get So Lucky?!

So this weekend I didn't get as much of my dress done as I had hoped for. I got my pattern cut out. That's it. Not the fabric cut - Just the paper pattern. Not very far into the project by any means - Not when the dress has 60 different steps! Maybe this wasn't such a great idea...... I better keep repeating this "You are saving lots of money, and getting something pretty" or "You will look so good in that dress" or "You can do it". None of those seem to be working for me right now. Maybe I bit off more than I can chew. (That damn glass seems to be half empty again)

Phil got up with Graham when he woke up during Friday night, got up when the kids woke up on Saturday morning, and let me sleep in a little. We took our boys to Lincoln for the Husker's Fan Day. It was the first time the boys have been to Memorial Stadium, so exciting for Phil! He really looks forward to sharing his love for football with his boys. Aiden was thrilled to have so much room to run around and Graham was happy to not be in a stroller! After we got home I was lucky enough to get to go out shopping while Phil gave the boys lunch and put them down for their naps. He then put the boys to bed like normal to boot! How did this girl get so lucky? That doesn't even include what he did today around the house! (Did a bunch of laundry, cleaned up the kitchen & did the dinner dishes, and is now rocking Graham to sleep in his nursery with Aiden's bedtime stories quickly approaching)

I am so thankful for a husband and partner who is involved as much as he is. I am truly blessed to have someone who wants to be there to raise his children and participate as much as he can. He works very hard during the workweek so I can stay home with our babies & comes home to be an active father. It really says a lot about the kind of man he is. I may not have hit the Powerball, but I sure did hit the jackpot.

I guess with the weekend I had it makes my dress seem much less important!

Sew Excited!

I recently found a dress pattern online - I was looking for my next project since Hancock Fabrics had patterns for $.99! What a deal :o) Normally this pattern would have been $16.95, and being the savvy shopper that I am I decided a beautiful dress was in my near future.

The yellow dress is the pattern I bought. Except I will be making it black - that way I can wear it to anything! And who doesn't love a black dress?!?!

The dress shown here is one from a popular bridal store found in every city nationwide. Very similar to my pattern, only less stunning. On their website the price is listed as $135 - Not something I would want to pay, but hey - to each their (or in this case, her) own.

Not only did I get the pattern on sale, but the material (black taffeta) was 40% off, the dress lining was also 40% off. The covered boning and zipper were 50% off - which means my dress is only costing $25!!! Saving $110 making it myself - WOWZA! I don't know whether to call myself thrifty, frugal, or cheap. Either way, I will have a fabulous dressy dress! I can't wait to start it - maybe during some downtime this weekend I will start cutting out the pattern.
